Food Truck Events: June 6th-8th

Not that I need more information to get me motivated for the weekend, but these events definitely help.

Before I get into my list events, I want to highlight a Kickstarter going on with a local coffee roaster in Raleigh.  Oak City Roasters is trying to fund an operation to create K-Cups except market them as Care Cups.  Before you shun another crowd funding project, they are looking to fund an operation to be manufactured for people with autism or other developmental challenges.  So they are looking to provide them with meaningful opportunities.  Check out details here.

Friday June 6th

RTP Rodeo Line-Up Announced: Pie Pushers, Sympathy 4 The Deli, Red Hot and Blue, and The Parlour will be there from 11:30am to 1:30pm.  The Rodeo is at the usual spot at 800 Park Office Drive.

First Friday Raleigh!

First Friday brings Art and Downtown alive with galleries open throughout the evening downtown.  Right now, I can confirm that Dump Pho King Truck will be at CAM Raleigh (Contemporary Art and Design).  The museum is located at 409 W. Martin Street in Raleigh.

I’m huge fan of Lucettegrace (not a truck, but still a huge fan) and they will be at Deco Raleigh for Friday’s festivities.  Not far from the location, which I am anxious to see open.  Deco Raleigh is at 19 W. Hargett Street.

Saturday June 7th

Brueprint - June 7

Brueprint Grand Opening

Further strengthening the Triangle’s local beer culture, Apex will celebrate the opening of Brueprint Brewing Company.  They have been opened for short time, but this opening will feature Big Mike’s BBQ, Deli-icious, Dump Pho King, Sol Tacos, Valentino’s and food from Patrick Jane’s Gourmet Pizza.  In addition, there will be music performances by George Huntley, Peak City Blues Project, and more.

Brueprint is located at 1229 Perry Road in Apex.

Beaver Queen Pageant

This week I asked The Triangle Explorer for his pick from this weekend.  This week’s pick is the Beaver Queen Pageant.  You can read more details at his blog here.

For a quick summary, this is the 10th Annual event and it is to bring awareness to the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association.  The event is at the Duke Park starting at 4pm with the pageant starting at 5pm.  The food trucks there will be Only Burger, The Parlour, Pie Pushers, and Sympathy 4 Deli.  Also, the Bulltown Strutters will perform, which astute readers will recognize the trombone player.

Sunday June 8th

DTR 5

Downtown Raleigh Rodeo

One of the largest food truck events in the nation (if not the world) happens again Sunday.  Over 50 trucks gathering on the Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh.  If you have never tried a truck before, this is a good opportunity to the wide variety of cuisines they offer.  For the experienced, its a good time to check out 9 new trucks, some from outside the Triangle region.

The event will be from 1pm to 6pm.

NC Food Rodeo at Grove Winery

If driving to Raleigh or going downtown is not your thing, I suggest going west to Gibbonsville for the monthly NC Food Truck Rodeo at Grove Winery.  This month Lee’s Kitchen, Tailgater Toby, The Great Escape, Cafegency, and Jersey’s Best Dogs.  In addition to local wine from Grove, Natty Greene’s beers are available.  While there you can taste wines in the tasting room and usually there is a bounce house for the kids.  Great low-key event that is one of my favorite events.

The vineyards and winery are in Gibbonsville, NC.

  1. Why is it I’m connected to so many peeps from Raleigh and not Charlotte? Would love to have this for Charlotte.

  2. The Beaver Queen Pageant is always entertaining!
