Wandering Review of 2014: Food Truck Memories

It seems this time of year is the appropriate time to sit down and look back at all that happened throughout the year.  When I think about what has gone on this year in food trucks, these are a few of the items that really stand out in 2014.

Taken about 30 minutes in, the lines grew quick and strong.

Wake Forest showed this Summer that they love food trucks, too.

Knightdale, Cary, Wake Forest and Garner hosting food truck festivals.  These towns showed their big siblings, Durham and Raleigh, are not the only ones that can have fun.   And we already see Knightdale hosting another in February 2015!

Beericana-1

Beericana.  I usually don’t stay out all day, but give me beer, food trucks, and some great music – I might just tilt a chair and loaf awhile.  What I liked about this event, it really seemed to the beer, music, and the food trucks well.  I can’t wait for September 12th when 919 Beer will host event again in Holly Springs.

And beer reminds me that Draft Line, Nickelpoint, Brueprint, Bull City Ciderworks, Bombshell and Fortnight opened in 2014 and became spots for food trucks.  Eating Local. Drinking Local. Always seems good when you can do it.

ROAM-5

Attending ROAM 2014.  The idea of traveling to San Antonio (and Austin/San Marcos for the day) was awesome in itself.  But the chance to rub elbows with food truck owners from across the world (I bumped into a Costa Rican investor looking to start operating there!) and people who enjoyed food trucks, made the trip one of my favorite memories (and this picture, too)

Stuft handing out food

Chick-N-Que, Gussy’s, Not Just Icing, and Stuft all handed out their specialities at the Durham Rescue Mission

All the charitable events that food trucks have given back to the community.  Listing all the charities and events would be a lot, but I thought I’d mention the ones I attended and/or donated: Cary Creative Center, Durham Rescue MissionFood Bank of Eastern and Central North CarolinaHelping Hands Mission, Relay for LifeSAFEchild, and St. Baldrick’s.

Excited that Monuts and Only Burger expanded their brick and mortar locations.  Also, Iced CupcakesOlio and AcetoSarge’s Chef, and  Sweet Traditions opened brick and mortar locations this year.

And last, thanks for your support as your Local Food Truck Blogger and winner of the 2014 Mobile-Cuisine.com Local Food Truck Blogger of the Year award.  I always appreciate this and thanks for the comments, likes, retweets, likes, favorites, and the “RUWandering!”, “Hey! Art” shouts.

While these are just a few things that were memorable this year.  Though, what am I excited about for 2015 (other than the hints I made above?)  I guess we’ll find out next year!

Keep Wandering,

@RUWandering
